Oliva G toro tubo

This Oliva G toro was resting in my humidor for over a year and I finally smoked it. It is a nice 6 inch ring 50 cigar with a pretty Cameroon wrapper. The wrapper is almost without veins. The cigar feels well constructed from Nicaraguan Habano filler, Cuban seed Habano binder and Cameroon wrapper. The aroma reminds me of hay.

I can taste full leather which becomes creamy after 2 inch, soft but spicy. Halfway the main flavor is a creamy chocolate with cedar and leather. When the creamy chocolate disappears the leather and cedar remain for the last part of the cigar.

This cigar is full flavored and medium bodied with some vitamin N. The smoke is full and thick and the ash is quite dark. The draw is a bit too easy though.

Would I buy this cigar again? Possibly, I liked this cigar

H. Upmann vintage cameroon petit corona

I got this good looking cigar in a bomb from the same guy that bombed me all those flavored cigars, the packing is flawless, double banded and wrapped in cedar. Underneath the cedar is a bumpy oily wrapper. The aroma is light, a bit sweet and reminds me of milk chocolate. The predraw is just fine. The size is 5 x 42.

I could taste some tobacco and wood, and after an inch it became a bit creamy. Halfway it’s still the same except that the creamy texture leaves a bit of a chocolate aftertaste in my mouth, and just for a short time I could taste some pepper.

The smoke started poor but got better during the smoking. The burn is great & straight and the ash is quite dark. A medium smoke, both in flavor and in body.

Would I buy this cigar again? No, I would smoke it though if someone offers me one, but it won’t be my first choice

Bolivar Royal Corona

A nice, light brown, rough wrapper, not pretty but touch with lots of veins, a great construction and a nice smell of hay & stable aromas, that was my first impression of the Bolivar Royal Corona.

I could taste several wood flavors, mostly cedar with some earthy tones, and soon the flavors became creamy. The typical Cuban leather is missing in the beginning but shows up after half an inch. The creamy flavor comes and goes and right before being halfway through the cigar the leather grows in strength, and is accompanied by some chocolate.

Throughout the cigar the cedar & earthy notes are consistently noticeable as a base on which the leather & the chocolate can play their part. The final note is to the chocolate, before the turning point is reached.

Lots of smoke, and I mean LOTS of smoke, the draw is fine, the ash is almost silver and firm. The burn is fantastic. A true full bodied full flavored modern day classic.

Would I buy this cigar again? You betcha, one of my favorite cigars!

Don Pepin Garcia series JJ torpedo

This nice 5.75 x 52 torpedo is a Nicaraguan puro with a Nicaraguan Corojo oscuro wrapper. This blend was developed by Don Pepin and his son Jaime Garcia. The cigar has a barnyard aroma to it and feels well constructed.

I get a full flavored pepper and wood. The pepper fades away quickly but the cedar remains. After an inch I get hints of coffee and chocolate on my palate. Halfway the cigar, the pepper returns and soon after that a light coffee flavor is noticeable. The wood flavor is consistent and all the other flavors are build around it. The encore is a bit stronger and more flavorful, I taste wood and chocolate, with a peppery flavor on my tongue.

The smoke on this cigar is amazing; I get a lot from it. The ash is white and the burn is close to perfect. This is a medium to full bodied cigar, full flavored.

Would I buy this cigar again? You can count on that.

Flor de Oliva maduro robusto

This Nicaraguan bundle cigar, from the Oliva budget line comes in a cellophane wrapper. It is a nice cigar to see, a dark wrapper with some nice veins all over it. But the band, man, that is pompous and it could use a little make over.

The first flavor is a bitter leather, but fortunately the bitterness disappears after a few puffs. After an inch I could clearly taste tobacco and after a sip of water there is a light chocolaty flavor on my palate. Somewhat later I could taste the chocolate again while the leather is a constant factor. The balance of leather and chocolate is perfect and to top it off it gets creamy. Close to the end the leather disappears and the chocolate is the only flavor.
080706flordeolivarobustomaduro2
The ash is quite firm, on another Flor de Oliva robusto maduro I smoked I managed to keep the cone intact till the end. The smoke is full, white and creamy.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, it is a nice snack cigar for little money
