In 2008 Tatuaje started with a yearly tradition, the monster series, to be release around Halloween. It all stated with the Frank named after Frankenstein, 2009 was the Drac after Dracula, then the face after leatherface from the Texas chainsaw massacre. 2011 honored the movie the wolf man and 2012 gave us the mummy. 2013 was the year of Jason Voorhees with the JV13, then came Jekyll to be followed by the Hyde.
In the mean time Tatuaje released a box of Tatuaje little monsters, miniature versions of the first 5 editions and the pudgy monsters, smaller versions of the monsters bit with the original ring gauge of the first 6 years and an added bonus of chucky and his bride. For the next few weeks I’ll be reviewing the little and pudgy monsters and some of the Tatuaje monsters that are left in my collection. I started last week with the little monsters in chronological order, so after last weeks the Frank Jr. it is now time for Lil Drac.
The lil Drac is a small belicoso, medium dark mild shiny wrapper with a few thin veins. The black and red band might be the one I like most from the monster series. Beautiful triple cap but I feel a few weak spots in the construction. The cold draw is perfect, I taste dry tobacco with a mild minty flavor.
At the start I get a dry tobacco flavor with some mint, just like in the cold draw. The mint disappears quickly and I taste dry flavors as in dry hay, grass and tobacco.
After a third it’s still a mixture of dry flavors but with some warm spices. The last third starts warn and mild bitter but not in a bad way. The bitterness disappears and I taste nutmeg.
I get a medium amount of smoke, medium to full, light colored. The ash is bright white. The burn is a bit crooked. The draw is flawless. The cigar lasted me little over an hour.
Would I buy this cigar again? I liked this better than the Frank Jr.
